Guest Post from Adam Glendon Sidwell, author of Evertaster + RECIPE

Today's post is from Adam Glendon Sidwell, the author of the popular new culinary fantasy Evertaster. Well, actually, Adam wasn't able to write the post because he was busy getting ready to come to Utah (from CA) for his book signing next Saturday, July 21st, at the Provo Farmers' Market so Storfjell, one of the two large viking brothers that shows up in Evertaster, wrote the post instead. A good author is able to delegate to his or her characters, no?
Hello ya! My name is Storfjell and I am bigger than a polar bear and I like very much to be eating mounds of blueberry muffins with melty slabs of butter on top! I live on an island up very far in the frozen seas all alone with my brother Torbjorn and our herd of bovines. I swear by my battle axe and horned helmet that the butter from these bovines is more delicious than Frygga’s apples! It is not very often I am talking to Outlanders like you from the Warmlands, but a very courteous boy named Guster came to visit and liked my butter so much, I said I would share my muffin recipe with you!

Here is how you make Storfjell’s Muffins!
2c flour
⅔ c sugar
2 ½ t baking powder
¼ t salt
1 egg
1/3 c butter. You must use sweet butter from ours, the most pleasant bovines you might ever meet! However if you cannot come to our secret island in the cold sea, I will be recommending use of other butters.
1 c buttermilk
1 t vanilla extract
1 c blueberries

Mjolnir’s Crumb Topping:
Mix the 2T oats, 2T flour, 1T cold butter cut into small pieces, and 2T brown sugar with a pastry blender, fork, or battle axe until crumbly.

Mix dry ingredients. In a separate bowl or turn your helmet upside down, combine egg, butter, buttermilk, and vanilla. Stir those wet ingredients into dry ingredients being careful not to overmix, thank you. Add blueberries because they are tasting delicious. Spoon batter into muffin pan. Crumble Mjolnir topping over muffins. Bake at 375 degrees for about 25 minutes. Remove muffins when a toothpick inserted in the muffin comes out clean.

If there is one thing I do not mind getting my silver beard sticky for, it’s buttery muffins. Please be careful to melt a large slab of sweet yellowy butter on your muffin top before you are eating it!

Ya well! Just eat! Have it good!
Yumm! Thanks, Storfjell! Now I'm uber hungry for soft, warm muffins. And I'm going to look into those frozen sea island bovines. The right butter is a necessity for good cooking after all. Julia Child would definitely agree.

If you're in the Provo, UT area next Saturday, July 21st, stop by the Farmers' Market at Pioneer Park and look for the Waffle Love booth! There you will find Adam signing books and offering yummy treats (and there may even be a gorilla)! I'm sure Storfjell would be there too, but since it's so hot here, he'll probably stay inside in front of the air conditioner.

Where is the technology that allows me to pluck food from the screen?!
